Pelaihari, South Kalimantan 28/9 (AntaranewsKalsel) - Head of South Kalimantan Plantation and Fishery Agency Suparmi targets as many as 35 thousand cows in the province pregnant in 2017.
"South Kalimantan cattle population is ranked eighth at the national level. To increase the population by 2017, we are targeting 35,000 cattle pregnant," said Suparmi at Pelaihari on Thursday.
According to her, until September 25, it has reached 22 thousand or 70 percent of pregnant cows in South Kalimantan. Of that number, 17 thousand of pregnant cows are in Tanah Laut District, which is the largest cattle producer in South Kalimantan.
Through special efforts the breeder cattle must pregnant (Upsus Siwab), he explained, can increase the cattle population in South Kalimantan.
Separately, Regent Tanah Laut Bambang Alamsyah expressed readiness for the development of cattle population in the region. Local government will prepare 1,000 hectares of land to be granted in the development effort of cattle in South Kalimantan.
