Banjarmasin, S Kalimatan (ANTARA) - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) detected a 3.1 magnitudo earthquake had trembled Barito Kuala (or Batola) District in South Kalimantan, but no report of any impact so far.

"So far there have been no reports from the public regarding the impact of the quake," said Head of Batola Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) Mirwan Siregar in Marabahan, Batola capital, Saturday.

Mirwan said based on the report the nearest sub-districts to the quake epicenter are Marabahan, Tabukan and Kapuas Murung, but there were no reports from residents.

"People are continuing their activities as usual," said Mirwan when contacted by ANTARA.

According to the report from the Balikpapan Geophysical Station, the quake's epicenter was at 2.85 South Latitude, 114.68 East Longitude or approximately 24 kilometers northeast of Barito Kuala, at a depth of 10 km.

The mag 3.1 quake occurred on October 18, 2025, at approximately 15.19.18 PM WIB (Western Indonesian Time).

Meanwhile, Mirwan reported that residents of Batola were affected by strong wind on Friday afternoon and damaging 17 houses.

The disaster hit four villages in four sub-districts: Tabunganen Pemurus Village in Tabunganen Sub-district, Antasan Segera Village in Mandastana Sub-district, Anjir Serapat Lama Village in Anjir Muara Sub-district, and Jelapat II Village in Mekarsari Sub-district.

"It was heavy rain accompanied by strong winds, but based on the reports received and field monitoring, there were no casualties," he said.
