Banjarmasin, S Kalimatan (ANTARA) - The Yogyakarta-based Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII) or Islamic University of Indonesia emerged as the overall champion of the 18th National Student Quran Recitation Competition (MTQMN) 2025 held at Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM), South Kalimantan.
"Congratulation to UII Yogyakarta for being the best in MTQMN this year," said ULM Rector Professor Ahmad Alim Bachri in Banjarmasin, Friday.
ULM itself won the third place, behind Malang State University, which secured the second place.

Professor Alim expressed his pride and gratitude, even though did not win the overall champion.
ULM caravan, he said, had shown their best performance in all 15 categories of competition.
The rector was proud of ULM's success as a host and the entire series of MTQMN were smooth and successfully implemented according to schedule.
A total of 1,506 kafilahs or caravans from 194 universities across the archipelago took part in the competition which run from October 6 to 9, 2025.

The closing ceremony of the MTQMN was marked by Haflah Al-Qur’an led by Professor KH Said Agil Husin Al-Munawar as the panel of judges.
ULM Deputy Rector fo Student Affairs and Alumni Muhammad Rusmin Nuryadin expressed his gratitude for ULM's success in hosting the 18th MTQMN 2025.
He stated MTQMN is not only a competition to find a champion, but a memontum to stengthen ties (silaturahmi) and disseminating Quranic values among universities in Indonesia.
In addition to the competition, the ULM MTQMN also presented Tabligh Akbar, the student leadership forum (Forpimawa), the Islamic Religious Education Lecturers Association Forum, ziarah or pilgrimages and socio-religious activities.
The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology's Director of Learning and Student Affairs (Belmawa) Berry Juliandi commended ULM's commitment to continuously playing an active role in integrating Quranic values into academic and social life for the Golden Indonesia 2045.
