"That was a week ago, about 43 chickens and ducks owned by breeders in two RT in Pangambangan Village experienced sudden death," said the Head of Livestock Department of Agriculture and Fisheries Agency Anwar Zayadi here, Wednesday (26/10).
According to him, after a temporary examination the poultry positive of bird flu, the agency asked the owners not to bring out poultry, not to dispose of dead animals into rivers, and perform burial.
"In addition, leftover chicken or duck to be destroyed or slaughter. If not, destroyed it," he said.
Given these events, he explained, the Agriculture and Fisheries Agency keep monitoring and surveillance in areas hit by the bird flu.
"We held several times a surveillance and spraying on the environment to be free of the bird flu virus," he said.
He explained that cases of bird flu had occurred earlier in 2015, but not too broad or endemic for expedited prevention.
"For Banjarmasin bird flu epidemic condition was not like Kandangan and Amuntai," he said.
He explained the characteristics of bird flu easily known are sudden death, comb and face blue, but should be further investigated by the laboratory.
He appealed, the farmers keep cage clean, meticulously buy a chicken or duck from outside Banjarmasin, and due to the change of seasons could also be the cause of bird flu.
