Barabai, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - A person with mental health disorders (ODGJ) in a village in Batang Alai Utara (BAT) Sub-district, Central Hulu Sungai (HST), South Kalimantan Province, killed his parent.
The homicide committed by ODGJ was said to be the umpteenth of time in the district. In September last year, a person with mental health disorders killed a ten year old child in Limpasu Sub-district.
The latest accident in BAT, Saturday (July 18), occurred when the perpetrator came to the house of his father. They then involved in quarrels. Until the suspect attacked using a machete.
The victim, who was about 60 years old, was attacked at the abdomen and neck. As a result, the victim suffered severe injuries and bleeding and eventually died.
HST Police Chief AKBP Danang Widaryanto through his PR Aipda (Adj. Second Insp) M Husaini confirmed the incident and the perpetrator had been secured at the Batang Alai Utara Police Station.
"We still processing the perpetrator and still constrained, because of difficult to communicate," he said.
Meanwhile, the HST government through the Health Agency had formed a Community Mental Health Prevention Team (TP-KJM) to address the phenomenon of psychiatric disorder in the community, which even resulted in fatalities.
