"Rapid test had been carried out for two days on 60 employees and medical staff and to be continued to all employees," said Acting Director of the Pambalah Batung Hospital dr Moch Yandi Friyadi in Amuntai, Wednesday (May 20, 2020).
He said no need to be afraid, because the rapid test is a screening step for COVID 19 prevention. If the results are reactive, prevention can be done by taking vitamin and keeping a distance from the family, so the spread can be prevented.
Yandi said, the hospital's isolation rooms can accommodate five patients with mild symptoms. If a patient has severe symptoms, he should be referred to.
"The isolation room is currently occupied by one confirmed positive patient with no symptoms, aged over 60 years and not referred to the referral hospital," he said.
The hospital has coordinated with the South Kalimantan Health Agency, and the patient was allowed to be treated at the Pambalah Batung Hospital, because of comorbid status with comorbidities, such as hypertension, diabetes, kidney. and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
The Pambalah Batung Amuntai Hospital is actually not a referral and can only handle patients in moderate category. For a patient in a minor category would be enough to undergo self-isolation.
"Patients with severe categories must be referred to a referral hospital," he explained.
Yandi was grateful, assistance for the need of personal protective equipment (PPE) flowed from various social, politics and community organizations and was very helpful for medical personnel.
"We received PPE from the Provincial Task Force as many as 100 units, from PDIP 25 units, 30 units from Solidaritas Banua donor and five units from PMI," he said.
