Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, 16/7 (Antaranews) – The Banjarmasin Administration plans to build a 30 megawatts steam power plant (PLTU) to meet the electricity demand of society and industry in the region.
"The PLTU will be constructed by the local businessman, but with consultant from China," said Head of the Banjarmasin Integrated Licensing Service and Investment (BP2TPM) Drs M Ikhsan Alhak to reporters on Tuesday.
According to him, the employer already has approved in principle of the power plant construction, and is still in the process of building permit (IMB) and HO to the office.
With the IMB and HO, the environmental impact assessment (amdal) will be made only then will the power plant to be built with the location in Basirih, the outskirts of the city of Banjarmasin or right at power plant site of PT Wijaya, plywood company.
Ikhlas Alhak said, the City Government thanked the private sector to build power plants because of the city's electricity shortage of about 100 MW. If is stay in the shortage of electricity it will hinder the development of cities and industries.
"With the 30 MW, it is estimated at least 40 thousand houses demand of electricity can be met without dependence on PT PLN," he said adding that somehow the supply of private power systems should be through PT PLN line before channeled to the public.
