The Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) has found a dangerous chemical Rhodamin B in a takjil (snack for iftar) being sold in Ramadhan Cake Market in Balangan.
The Balangan Health Agency and Trade and Industry Agency in cooperation with the neighbor district North Hulu Sungai (HSU) BPOM have indeed conducted food intenfication in Ramadhan due to growing demand of such snacks.
Head of BPOM HSU Bambang Hery Purwanto through his staff, Winda, revealed that the agency found a dessert that was not safe for consumption.
"In the inspection activities at the Ramadhan Market in Paringin, Halong and Batumandi Subdistricts, with 82 sampling, including bingka barandam, mutiara, dawet, jelly, syrup, sauce, fruit ice, fried foods and others," he said, Tuesday.
From the results of the examination, Winda continued, one type of snack, Dawet Pelangi, was found not safe for consumption because it contained hazardous ingredient in the form of Rhodamin B.
The trader was then given guidance and knowledge related to the danger to the health of consumers if using dangerous food.
