The Kotabaru government has allocated funds of about Rp2.5 billion to widen the road to the tourist attraction of Gedambaan Beach  in an effort to increase tourist visits.


Regent Sayed Jafar said on Thursday the road would be extended to six meters plus trenches and shoulder of one meter each on two sides of the road so the total is 10 meters.

"Widening the road is to anticipate the increase in the tourism sector in Kotabaru, especially Gedambaan Beach," said the Regent.

The road widening will be carried out from the Gedambaan Beach to the urban direction. The project is ready this year, because the budget has been allocated.

"With the budgeted funds, we will see to where this works reach until this year," said Joni Anwar, Head of the Highways and Water Resources Office.

The work on road widening is planned to be gradually to adjust the budgetary capacity every year in consider of many other development priorities.

Previously, Head of the Culture and Tourism Agency Khairian Anshari said this year target of tourist visits to Gedambaan Beach to reach 600 thousand people.

He was optimistic with the target while efforts to make improvements continue to be made, such as improving various facilities for the convenience of visitors.
