One worker in the Banjarmasin Syamsudin Noor Airport development project died of a work accident on Saturday at around 4:15 a.m.

Banjarbaru Police Chief Adj Sr Comr (AKBP) Kelana Jaya through the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) Adj Comr (AKP) Aryansyah in Banjarbaru on Saturday said the police had conducted an investigation into the work accident case.

"We have handled the case and a number of witnesses were questioned to ascertain the cause of the work accident which caused the loss of life," said AKP Aryansyah.

Worker who died named Santoso (38), while two other workers who also fell in the disaster, Wahyu and Turahim, only suffered injuries and were hospitalized.

According to Aryansyah, work accidents began when they were casting a floor plate in the 2nd Floor Pier area. Casting starting at 1:00 a.m. was done by 6 workers (Wisnu's foreman team) and at around 4:00 the work was finished and entered the rubbing stage.

Three people from the team shifted to the cast area next to it, while 3 people stayed in the area for the rubbing stage. But at 4:15 a formwork collapsed in the casting area.

The collapse of the formwork caused three workers to fall until Santoso died and two of his colleagues were injured. They were rushed to the hospital to get treatment.

"The temporary suspicion of work accidents is due to land shifting which causes the scaffolding pole that supports the floor plate to shift, causing the floor to be cast to collapse," said the head of satreskrim.
