Visitors to the Mandiangin natural tourist area in Karang Intan Subdistrict, Banjar Regency, rate the entrance fee to the area quite expensive now.

"Now the entrance fee is Rp10 thousand per person plus insurance of Rp1 thousand, so it becomes Rp11 thousand, even though previously only Rp5 thousand per person," said a visitor from Banjarbaru.

Syarif, Mandi Angin visitor, said Friday that the tariff does not include the tariff of Rp10,000 for motorcycle. "If the driver has a passenger, they have to pay Rp32 thousand," he said on Saturday.

While visitors who drive cars are charged Rp25 thousand, plus the number of people on the car to be charged by Rp11 thousand per person.

Syarif, who claimed to be a university student in Banjarbaru, also questioned the tariffs for students other than ULM students of Rp. 9,000 per person.

"Taking this education forest is in accordance with the Minister's Decree, why should students be charged with entrance fees? Students should be free based on self-identity, because this area means education and research," he said as his friend nodded to agree.

A guard in the Mandiangin education forest, Junaidi, who lived and guarded the area for decades, was also surprised at the high ticket rate for visitors.

According to him, since the increase in the entrance rate, visitors continued to decrease. "It used to be very crowded and the stalls in the area were also selling well," said Junaidi who also held a drinking stall in the area.
