Jakarta - The Association of Indonesian Oil Palm Farmers (APKASINDO) will organize a national meeting of oil palm farmers from across Indonesia, in Jakarta, on Feb 27 and 28, 2019.
The meeting would discuss various issues such as on land legality, trade system, and the price of oil palm fresh fruit bunches (FFB), Rino Afrino, chairman of the meeting`s organizing committee stated here on Tuesday.
Afrino noted that the meeting has five objectives. The first objective is to inform all oil palm farmers from 22 provinces about the Indonesian government`s efforts, strategies, and diplomacy to promote oil palm as a sustainable national strategic commodity.
The second objective is to identify various problems and potential of plasma farmers` oil palm plantations.
The third objective is to gather technical proposals and views on oil palm plantations in Indonesia, particularly plasma farmers` plantations.
The fourth objective is to initiate a joint commitment among stakeholders for a program called "Sustainable, Dignified, and Sovereign Indonesian Oil Palm.?
And the fifth objective is to strengthen the role of APKASINDO in order to help make the government`s sustainable oil palm program a success.
Some 300 oil palm farmers are invited to participate in the meeting.
