Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Deputy Chairperson of South Kalimantan DPRD's Commission I on Law and Government H Suripno Sumas believes Tabalong can be an example for districts and cities in South Kalimantan in handling disasters.
Suripno, who had just returned from a working visit with his commission to the northernmost district in South Kalimantan, revealed that if a disaster occurred, the officers or volunteers must be at the scene no later than 15 minutes later.
"If more than 15 minutes, residents of disaster affected can claim to the local government due to negligence," said the former Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) student activist on Wednesday.
Tabalong Government, he said, not only involved the active role of firefighters from the public or the private sector in disaster management, but also provided incentives to them.
"The provision of incentives is per group with amounts of between Rp 90 million to Rp 100 million/year," said retired civil servants (PNS) who joined the National Awakening Party (PKB).
"The distribution of incentives is through the District Disaster MitigationAgency (BPBD) whose funding comes from the local budget," continued the ULM alumnus with the title of SH and MH.
He revealed that in the Commission I visit, the Tabalong Government through the BPBD hoped the provincial government would provide assistance to fire trucks using tanks and their equipment.
