Amuntai, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - State electricity firm PT PLN acknowledges there are still 2,774 families in remote areas in North Hulu Sungai (HSU), South Kalimantan, have not received electricity.

PLN Amuntai Branch's Customer Service Supervisor Herdimas here on Thursday said from 60,303 families in HSU until the end of November, 57,529 families had received electricity from PLN.

"Residents who have not been electrified because of the heavy constraints of swamps very difficult to erect electricity poles and economic factors of the local community. But PLN will continue to strive so that people in the area can be electrified until 2020," said Herdimas.

He said, the families who have not yet received electricity from PLN are likely to be independently electrified by using such as generator engines, solar power,  generation devices, and others.

Villages have not been electrified due to the difficult terrain are Parupukan, Murung Padang, Rantau Bujur, Danau Terate, Palanjungan Sari, Beringin and Garunggang.

The HSU area is almost 90 percent consisting of land and swamp waters. The distribution of the residents is far away, so that to carry the construction material for the electricity network requires considerable costs.

For the smooth construction of the electricity network to remote villages scattered in the swamp area it need of coordination and cooperation between PLN and the HSU government.
