Kotabaru, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Indonesia’s second-largest cement producer, PT Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa, claimed that national cement demand fell in the range of 25 million to 30 million tons during the 2018 period, due to several factors.

"So there is a production capacity of 25-30 million tons unused," said Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Dept. Head of PT Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa Tarjun Factory H Teguh Iman Wibowo on Wednesday.

According to him, one of the important factors in the fall of cement demand is the lack of economic improvement, and government policy factors related to development. The impact of the decline in demand, one of which, affected the production of the Tiga Roda cement produced by PT Indocement..

"Until the end of November our production has only been around 80 percent of the target, which is around 2.2 million tons, in the form of bulk cement and packaging," he explained.

The production has been absorbed by the market was 2.3 million tons in total up to the period of December 15, 2018.

Teguh explained the market that absorbs the cement produced by Indocement was purely the domestic market. While for the export market, management is more focused on the domestic market.

It is expected that the market will improve again in 2019, that the sales and production targets was not achieved during 2018 can be covered.

Meanwhile, to date in Indonesia there are 17 producers from seven cement companies.
