Batulicin, (AntaranewsKalsel) - The number of passengers of perintis (pioneer) ships managed by PT Pelni Batulicin Branch currently rises about 100 percent compare to the regular.


Head of PT Pelni Batulicin Purwadi here on Thursday said the increase in the number of passengers occurred during the Idul Fitri mudik (homecoming) travel and its backflow.

"The passengers increased from the Seaport of Tanjung Perak Surabaya to the Batulicin Seaport and Kotabaru to Majene," said Purwadi.

He predicted the peak of Idul Fitri mudik backflow will occur today June 22, and most likely the number of passengers coming to the Batulicin will increase up to three times compared to current conditions.

Meanwhile, the company had previously anticipated by increasing the number of passenger capacity from 544 to 708 people.

Currently PT Pelni operates four ships to serve passengers on the mudik flow and backflow. The four ships are KM Egon, KM Wilis, KM Sabuk Nusantara 55, and Amukti Palapa, each with a capacity of 544 passengers.

The four vessels serve a journey from Batulicin Seaport to Tanjung Perak Surabaya, Batulicin-Makasar-Kupang NTT, Kotabaru-Batulicin-Pulau Sembilan-Batulicin-Kotabaru-Majene-Tanjung Silo, West Sulawesi and vice versa.
