Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Deputy of Regional Development of the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas Rudy S Prawiradinata said there is still a gap in economic growth and the development of various sectors between Kalimantan and Java.

According to Rudy, the gap is among others in the sector of economic growth. In Java the average growth has reached above 7 percent, while Kalimantan is under three percent.

"In fact, Kalimantan's economic growth potential is quite large, but it has not been fully explored," he said at the "Road to Indonesia Development Forum (IDF) 2018" in Banjarmasin on Wednesday.

These potentials, he stated, should be continuously explored and fostered, among others through public discussion to capture ideas and practices, for development in accordance with the characteristics of Central Indonesia and local wisdom.

According to him, IDF is a very big influence on the implementation of various programs in the future, in addition to gaining experience the success of other areas, can also map the potential that each region can develop in the future.

Esppecially Kalimantan, he added, the gap occurs because during this time its economic growth is only focused on one sector, especially mining.

While other potentials, which are actually very large, has not been maximized, such as industry, agriculture, fisheries, tourism, and others.

Kalimantan, for example, needs to develop information technology, such as IT in the fisheries sector. Through sophisticated IT, fishermen can determine the coordinates of many fish locations, how to manage them and marketing them.

"These potentials can be developed into our current discussion," he said.
