Paringin S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The Green Community Forum (FKH) Citra Sanggam Balangan found a very large tree while exploring the forest of Halong Sub-district.
"The diameter of the tree is very large. To surround the tree required at least eight or ten people by holding hands," said FKH Citra Sanggam Balangan Chairman Fahnor in Panggung village, South Paringin, on Monday.

The tree was discovered accidentally when young FKH roamed the forest to identify the endemic fruit plants of Kalimantan in the subdistrict.

After seeing a towering tree they approached it and it turned out the tree was very large.
They themselves are less aware of the tree species, but it is thought to be the so-called kusi tree.
Apparently, the tree had been beaten by the bees on it, because there are parts of trees with people traces up, given nails and a machete for the tool to climb the tree.
"We had time to take pictures of the tree that is exactly in Mentuyan Village," said Adie, a member of FKH Cita Sanggam who participated in the exploration.

According to the environmentalist, the tree is worth to be preserved, because it is a natural heritage left behind, and is estimated to be hundreds of years old and possibly thousands of years old.
They hope the landowners participate in maintaining the rare plants for posterity in the future, both as a means of education and research facilities.
