Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman will optimize 100,000 hectares of tidal land in South Kalimantan to increase national rice production. 

According to the minister, the tidal land potential here is quite large. If cultivated and developed will be able to boost national food production significantly. 

"You can imagine, if the land can be cultivated maximally, we can harvest three times a year, it will be able to generate Rp72 trillion per year, an extraordinary amount," he said after the inauguration of the South Kalimantan Executive Board of the Indonesian Farmers Association HKTI) in Banjarmasin on Saturday. 

According to the Minister of Agriculture, the current agricultural revolution continues to be implemented, in the hope that it becomes a proud sector and able to improve the welfare of farmers. 

"I am proud of many young people who are members of HKTI.This is a sign that the agricultural revolution is really running, young people are getting interested in farming," he said. 

Amran revealed, not a few well-known national entrepreneurs and millionaires come from the agricultural sector.

He pointed out, Indofood companies, large also from the agricultural sector. "So for young people who want to succeed and rich must dare to plunge into agriculture sector," he said. 

For the success of various agricultural programs, he added, the ministry will continue to work together with all parties, shoulder to shoulder to lift the sector.

According to Amran, 60 percent of Indonesia is an agrarian country, but the agricultural sector is very lagging behind. "This condition is very apprehensive and sad, so Indonesian farmers must rise," he said.
