Martapura, South Kalimantan 8/10 (AntaranewsKalsel) - Traffic Unit of the Banjar Police is now handling the case of a traffic accident that killed two girls while cycling on Jalan Ahmad Yani, Sunday at 05.45 am.


Chief of Banjar Police Adj Sr Comr (AKBP) Takdir Mattanete in Martapura on Sunday said the police had secured the driver of the car that hit the two girls.

"The case has been handled by traffic unit and the car driver is secured to undergo a further legal process," said police chief through Head of Traffic Unit Adj Comr (AKP) Lenman Limbong.

The two girls who died in a deadly accident on the Jalan Ahmad Yani Km 8, Manarap Lama Village, Kertak Hanyar Sub-district, were Nur Riska (8 years) and Norhidayati (9 years).

Meanwhile, the driver of the car is AF (31), a citizen of CentralBanjarmasin, already secured with his car.

"At the time of the incident, the two victims were riding a bicycle and hit by the car from a rear when it ran from Banjarbaru to Banjarmasin. Both died at the scene," the head of the traffic unit said.

According to him, the police still have not received a description from the driver of the car, because he is still in shock over the incident that led to the death of two girls.

"The officer still can not question the driver because he is still in shock and his status is still not determined whether he is a suspect or not," he said.
