Banjarbaru, S Kalimantan, Aug 4 (Antara) - Exports by South Kalimantan fell in value 16.95 percent to US$547.75 million but its imports rose 5.41 percent to US$96.62 million in June from May this year, the regional office of the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) said.
Year-on-year, however, the export value rose from US$437.5 million in June, 2016, head of the provincial BPS Diah Utami said here on Thursday.
The main export commodities from South Kalimantan is mineral fuel contributing US$443.28 million to the total export value, followed by animal fat and oil and chemicals.
"The largest country of destination was China to which exports were valued at US$158.68 million, followed by India to which exports valued at US$124.20 million and Japan US$76.58 million," Diah said.
Its imports rose 5.41 percent to US$96.62 million in June from US$91.66 million in May this year and by 42.36 percent in June, 2016.
"Imports came mainly from Singapore from which imports were valued at US$75.65 million and from South Korea US$10.57 million and Malaysia US$7.83 million Diah said.
The international trade balance of South Kalimantan has continued to be in its favor with surplus at US$451.14 million in June this year.
"Cumulatively , the surplus totaled US$3,042.67 million in the first six months of the year.***3*** (AS/f001)
