Balangan, South Kalimantan, 7/6 (AntaranewsKalsel) - Balangan District Government, South Kalimantan, distributes 1,440 tons of government food reserves rice (CPP) to help flood victims.
Head of Balangan Food Security Agency Rahmadi here Wednesday said the rice aid to meet the needs of flood victims and food insecurity in Lajar-Papuyuan Transmigration Rescue Unit, Lampihong Sub-district, for one month.
"We have planned to distribute rice for two months' needs, but local food supply is not possible," he said.
A total of 1,440 tonnes of rice were handed over by the local Food Security Agency to 90 families with 315 inhabitants, who are still living in the vulnerable village prone to delivery flood.
Balangan Regent H Ansharuddin said he would coordinate with the local Social Agency and Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) to increase rice aid to the residents, so residents need not worry.
"We will coordinate with the Social Agency and BPBD for the need of additional rice, I do not think people should worry about it," he said.
Regent also reminded that citizens to be always responsive and alert to various natural disasters and calamities that hit "Bumi Sanggam" (Balangan) such as sudden flood, fire and so forth.
In the event, the Bupati personally assisted residents in the form of cash to 90 heads of household and seven local honorary teachers, totaling tens of millions of rupiah.
