Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan 6/6 (AntaranewsKalsel) - The number of people with poor criteria in Banjarmasin City, South Kalimantan, has increased around 2,500 people to about 20,250 people today.


Mayor of Banjarmasin Ibnu Sina while in the legislative council building, Tuesday, admitted that there is an increasing data of poor citizens in his town this year.

According to him, the criteria of the poor residents is with additional participants who can be included in the National Health Insurance program (JKN) or Kartu Indonesia Sehat (KIS).

"The previous data listed about 20 thousand people, now there is an additional about 2,500 people," he explained.

Ibnu Sina said some residents who have not been covered in JKT-KIS is assisted by Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds from several companies."But the amount is certainly not too much," he explained.

Until, he added, there will be a policy from the city government to help the health insurance for poor citizens.

Banjarmasin which has a population of about 700 thousand people in five sub-districts is still much below the poverty line.

Even about 10,000 people are included in the Family Hope Program (PKH) from the Ministry of Social Affairs.

In addition, the slum area in Banjarmasin is also still quite wide, ie, about 3.1 percent or 360,000 hectares of the city area --whose nicknamed "Thousand River City" -- according to data from the Banjarmasin Housing and Slum Area Agency.
