Rantau, South Kalimantan, 23/5 (AntaranewsKalsel) - The Tapin District Government in South Kalimantan continues to increase production and quality of bamboo wicker handicrafts in the area by developing bamboo cultivation to meet the needs of industrial raw materials.


Regent Tapin HM Arifin Arpan in Rantau on Tuesday said the development of bamboo crops, among others, done in several ex-mining locations.

Tapin proclaimed the Bamboo Planting Movement for the Future (Rabu Mapan) at the ex-mining site in the program of optimization handling of environmental pollution.

In this activity Environment Agency took a mining company PT Sumber Kurnia Buana (PT SKB) to do reforestation in ex-mining in Salam Babaris Sub-district.

According to the regent, the optimization of ex-mining through bamboo planting movement in order the land can be a productive again.

"Do not just neglect the ex-mining, but use it to not become a dead land. A productive land will certainly beneficial to the surrounding community," said the regent.
