Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan 23/5 (AntaranewsKalsel) - Traffic police (Polantas) in the ranks of South Kalimantan Regional Police issued 15,031 tickets (evidence of violation) during the implementation of a code name Patuh Intan Operation 2017.


"The number of law enforcement with ticket sanctions this year increased from Patuh Intan Operation in 2016 with only 10,113 tickets," said South Kalimantan Police Chief Brigadier General Rachmat Mulyana in Banjarmasin on Tuesday.

But the quantity of ticket, he said, is not the goal to be achieved. It emphasized to suppress the number of accidents during the operation.

In 14 days of operation there were 16 cases of traffic accidents with the victims died nine people, compared to 34 cases with 21 people died in last year. So the goal to suppressing the number of accidents in the centralized police operations was successfully achieved.

"So it is not just ticketing, all efforts made by members of police from preemptive, preventive to law enforcement during the operation, where the ultimate goal is clear to suppress the traffic accidents," said police chief accompanied by Director of Traffic Police Directorate of South Kalimantan Police Senior Commissioner E Zulpan.

He hopes public awareness to orderly traffic increased after the implementation of operation. For those who do not have a driver's license (SIM) is suggested to immediately submit and to be testedif they are competent riders.

Patun Intan Operation 2017 which began on May 9 ended on Monday (22/5). In addition to ticket sanctions, the police also gave 2,915 written warning to violators who are considered tolerable, such as not clicking on the helmet strap and not turning on the headlight during the day.

"South Kalimantan Police is ranked fifth highest in the achievement of successful implementation of this year's obedient operation after the Central Java, East Java, West Java, and Metro Jaya," said Head Operation of Traffic Division AKBP Nur Khamid.
