Martapura, South Kalimantan 13/5 (AntaranewsKalsel) - Regent Banjar Khalilurahman handed over aid to dozens of families of fire victims in Aluh-Aluh on Friday (12/5) afternoon.


"The aid is to ease the burden of fire victims so they can meet the food and beverage needs," said the regent on the sidelines of the handover of aid packages in Aluh-Aluh on Saturday.

The bupati's relief package contains basic foods, including canned fish, instant noodles, sugar, soy sauce, tea and other snacks for children who are victims of the fire.

Besides, they were distributed blankets and others for daily necessities, such as soap and toothbrushes received symbolically by the residents' representatives.

"We hope that all citizens victims of the fire can be steadfast and strong in facing this ordeal as well as accept it as destiny," said the regent who is also the cleric.

Head of Banjar Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Sunarto said the number of people who were victims of fire 84 people who inhabit as many as 30 homes. They consist of 23 family.

"All the houses were burnt down in the disaster and the number of victim 84 from 23 families," he said.

Meanwhile, the police temporarily found the cause of fire allegedly because of cigarette butts or flammable objects hit the fabric. 

"Our allegation the cause is cigarette butts or other object thrown about the fabric then the fire enlarged," said Aluh-Aluh Police Chief AKP Suroto contacted Saturday evening.

Large fires hit settlements on Jalan Inpres RT 5 Aluh-Aluh Besar Village Friday (12/5) afternoon and caused 30 houses burned down.
