The national enduro rider Wawan Kadri has finalized his preparation to retain the champion of Uncle Hard Enduro to be held on August 9 to 11 August 2024 at Kiram Park, South Kalimantan.

"I have been in Kiram for two weeks to get to know the tracks this year's championship. Hopefully I can win again," said Wawan to ANTARA on the sidelines of his preparation at Kiram Park, Thursday.

In addition to mapping the terrian of the tracks which are challanging in the hilly area of Kiram, Wawan also focused on increasing physical endurance.

It is impossible, according to him, to win an enduro dirt bike race without the rider's prime physical support.

"The hot weather during the day, but it could be rain in a sudden certainly a challange for riders to be able to physically survive and conquer the tracks from dry rocky soil to muddy after rain," said the 30 year old man born in Samarinda.

Wawan had previously won first place in the international class for national riders in the third edition of Uncle Hard Enduro in 2023.

Competing with top world riders, such as the legendary Graham from England, Wawan was able to finish sixth. The winner of the class was Bulgarian rider Teodor Kabakchiev Smilenov.

Teodor became the international class champion in both the 2022 and 2023 edition of Uncle Hard Enduro.

While Wawan Kadri in the 2022 edition was only able to finish 10th, but was the only national rider to enter the top 10.

In 2019, which was the first Uncle Hard Enduro event, Wawan won the third place in national class.

The prestigious event, which was initiated by Governor Sahbirin Noor or popularly known as Uncle Birin was vacuum in 2020 and 2021 due to COVID-19 pandemic.

In 2024, Wawan joined the Ubas Extreme team of Jakarta who collaborates with local South Kalimantan team Sawit Enduro.

The owner of start number 945 is ready to fight to bring the name of Indonesia in the international class of Uncle Hard Enduro as well as to provide an injection of enthusiasm for local Kalimantan riders so they can achieve similar achievement by often becoming national champion in endurance racing events.
