Kandangan, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The government of South Hulu Sungai (HSS) has continued to promote and develop micro, small and medium enterprises through various training and innovation.

Head of SME Department of Industry, Trade and Cooperatives and SMEs Agency (Disperindagkop) Sumarsono here Friday said, one of the SMEs which is now being developed is processing the dodol Kandangan (taffy made of sticky rice) in Telaga Bidadari, Sungai Raya.

50 businessmen engaged in making dodol get a variety of training and equipment assistance from Disperindagkop and SMEs.

"We also conduct training for dodol entrepreneurs in developing and marketing innovative products without decreasing the  distinctiveness production to maintain its authenticity," he said.

Currently without preservatives dodol Kandangan can only survive for three weeks. Once the training is expected dodol will be able to last for three months, would use healthy and safe preservatives.

Likewise innovation of fruit-flavored dodol added flavor of the original fruit juice processing, instead of sweeteners or artificial flavors. It is important to keep a sense of unique dodol, because of its natural ingredients and not found in other places, he added.

In addition, employers are also aided with packaging. The old one used a very simple packaging plus sticky and greasy dodol. Then with innovative packaging will be more attractive forbuyers from both inside and outside the region.
