Tanjung, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The Tabalong Health Agency found three new cases of leprosy in sub-district of Haruai and Banua Lawas.


Leprosy Eradication supervisor Ahiruddin in Tanjung on Tuesday said the new three lepers found are two in Banua Lawas and one in Haruai.

"They were found this year in April and June and will be handled by each health community center to get free treatment," he said.

Earlier in 2014, he said, found 14 lepers type of multi bacillary (MB) or a lot of germs with the discovery of new cases (case detection rate) reached 6.1 percent per 100,000 population.

"Leprosy including chronic and infectious diseases caused by bacteria leprosy (Mycobacterium leprae) that attacks peripheral nervous, skin and other body tissues," said Ahiruddin.

The leper in addition to getting free treatment also monitored by health workers at each clinic. Leper who has dealt with in the district Health Agency in Banua Lawas were in Habau Village, Banua Rantau, Hapalah, Bungin, Bangkiling, Hariang and Sei Gampa.
