Pelaihari, South Kalimantan (Antaranews) - Head of Tanah Laut (Tala) Forest Agency, Ir Ahmad Hairin, said the district has 12 groups of Fire Concerned Citizens (MPA) ready to help to extinguish lands and forest fires.
"Not only fire fighters belongs to Tala Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), we also have groups of Fire Concerned Citizens to take part in anticipating of land and forest fires," said Akhmad Hairin H MMPd, in Pelaihari, Saturday (13 / 9).
Hairin mentioned, there are 12 groups of MPA as extension of the Tala Forest Agency. They formed in prone to wild fire areas. One group consists of 10 to 11 people.
Before doing fieldwork, MPA group received training and skills to take position, how the wind while putting out fire and extinguish fire techniques. "They also given a fire battering and simple water spray tool to extinguish fire," he said.
In addition to empowering tasks and functions of the MPA groups, the agency continue to monitor hotspots via satellites. "When there are hotspots detected in satellite, we check directly to the location," he said.
