Tanjung, South Kalimantan (Antaranews) - Eleven hotspots found in Tabalong, South Kalimantan, until September in the forest, mine area, and land owned by citizens.
A forest police of the Tabalong Forest Agency, Haris, here on Friday, said, two hotspots are found this month in the village of Uwi, Subdistrict Muara Uya, and in Kinarum Village, Subdistrict Upau.
"From the results of direct monitoring this month only two hotspots found bringing the total 11 hotspots since January to present," said Haris.
Hotspots in Tabalong based on Satellite Imagery National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) data scattered in subdistrict Murung Pudak, Muara Uya, Jaro, Haruai, Upau and Tanta.
In Maburai Village, Subdistrict Murung Pudak, hotspots were found in the area of coal mining not in the forest.
In the border of Tabalong - East Kalimantan, in the area of PT Interex Sacra Raya, also found one hotspot but it is in East Kalimantan region.
In subdistrict of Jaro, there are two hotspots found, one in the Jaro Village and the other in Purui Village, including two hotspots in Murung Pudak.
"Hotspots found mostly from the burning of land clearing activities and only a small part inside the forest area," said Haris again.
To minimize activity or forest fires, forest police force routinely patrol, especially in the northern region of Tabalong where hotspot mostly found.
Last year the number of fires in Tabalong reached 27 and 13 of which are located in the northern area including the subdistricts Bintang Ara, Jaro, Haruai, Muara Uya and Upau. A total of 10 hotspots were found to be in production forests and protected forests.
