Kotabaru, July 20 (Antara) - Publicly traded cement producer PT Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa overshot its production target by 4.6 percent in the first half of the year.
The country`s second largest cement maker produced 1.477 million tons of cement in the six months period exceeding its production target of 1.344 million tons.
Corporate Secretary of PT. Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa Tbk, Evi Juliana, said here on Saturday shipment target of 1.382 million tons was also overshot by 14.8 percent to 1.623 million tons.
"Currently the company has large stocks that demand could be met immediately," company`s operating manager for the Tarjun plant in South Kalimantan H. Akhmadi said.
Akhmadi said he was optimistic the production would increase further by the end of 2014.
"The Tarjun plant alone has a production target of 2.688 million tons in 2014. By June the production already reached 1.736 million tons," he said.
He said currently Indocement focuses on domestic market to boost its sales.
He said part of its cement production known with the brand of Tiga Roda has entered the eastern Indonesian market.
He said Indocement is building a 14th cement factory at its complex of Citeureup, Bogor, with a production capacity of 4.4 million tons per year.
The new factory is expected to be operational in the third quarter of 2015.
Indocement is also in final process of feasibility studies for other new factories to be built in Central Java and outside Java each with a capacity of 2.5 million tons a year.
Implementation of the plan would bring the installed design capacity of the company to a total of 20.5 million tons per year, Akhmadi said.
Currently Indocement has 40 units of batching plant and 648 mixer trucks with a total production capacity of 4.4 million cubic meters.
Indocement has three factory complexes -- Citeureup, Palimanan, and Tarjun, and six terminal -- Tanjung Priok, Tanjung Perak, Banyuwangi, Denpasar, Lembar and Samarinda.
