Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (Antaranews) - The South Kalimantan Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded export and import value both rise in May 2014 compared to the previous month.


South Kalimantan BPS Head Dyan Pramono Effendy here on Tuesday said export value in May 2014 recorded 720.54 million US dollars, up 1.50 percent compared to April 2014, and the value of imports 279.18 million US dollars, up 5.39 percent compared to April 2014.

The main contributor to the largest export commodity under the two-digit code of the Harmonized System (HS) are mineral fuels (HS 27) with a value of 601.94 million US dollars, then groups of fats and oils of animal/vegetable (HS 15) 93.87 million US dollars, as well as groups of wood and products of wood (HS 44) with a value of 18.53 million US dollars.

The main countries of export destination to China with a value of 213.08 million US dollars, India 205.14 million US dollars, and Japan with a value of 78.66 million US dollars.

While most major commodities imported by a two-digit HS code consists of mineral fuels (HS 27) with a value of 239.11 million US dollars, a group of ships (HS 89) 11.04 million US dollars, as well as group vehicles and parts (HS 87) 9.37 million dollars.

The main import supplier countries of South Kalimantan  from Singapore with a value of 144.24 million dollars, 65.25 million dollars from Malaysia, and South Korea 38.09 million US dollars.

Based on the value of exports and imports, trade balance in May 2014 had a surplus of 441.36 million US dollars, said Dyan Pramono Effendy.
