Barabai, South Kalimantan (Antaranews) - Central Hulu Sungai (HST) District Government will immediately disburse Rp1,6 billion for nine labor-intensive projects. The goal is to encourage rural development as well as efforts to combat unemployment and poverty.

HST Manpower, Transmigration and Social (Disnakertransos) Head Ainur Rafiq here on Sunday said the infrastructure and the productive efforts projects funded by the local budget for Rp1.686.685.000.

"The project will be implemented in nine locations with target 540 people to be employed," he said.

According to him, the HST government is now boosting development in various areas such as human resource with noble character, creative, innovative, skilled and master of science and technology.

With better HR, he added , Regent HST Harun Nurasid hopes to reduce unemployment and poverty in the district he lead.

Disnakertransos conduct a series of programs such as job fairs or job market to reduce unemployment and poverty. In addition, it implements vocational training center with six vocational skills such as sewing, automotive, workshop, agriculture and computer, targeting approximately 380 participants.

Training center itself has been built also dormitory with 12 rooms and a ballroom facilities and computer training ground for the participants.

It also conducted vocational training for poor families, assistance for 200 uninhabitable homes, KAT program implementation as well as community based economic joint enterprises (KUBE) as series of programs that are echoed in the form of Unemployment and Poverty Reduction Movement in the HST.

Regent invite the entire community to continue play their role in order to overcome this problem of unemployment and poverty.
