Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (Antaranews) - 40 Kotabaru farmers  sent to Purworedjo, Central Java, by local government to learn Eawa goats raise. This is in preparation to make the Subdistrict of North Pamukan as a center for the dairy goats raising.

"The 40 farmers from 21 subdistricts spread across the Kotabaru. They will be trained how to raise Etawa goats well," said Chairman of Commission II DPRD Kotabaru H Faruk Sahdan here on Monday.

According to Faruk, Etawa goats not just released, but kept in a cage , so that the control will be maximized and ease in maintenance. On the other hand, if a goat is released in the field, then monitoring and maintenance would not be optimal and prone to diseases attack.

Previously, member of Commission II DPRD Kotabaru Syaiful Bahri said the local government plans to make the North Pamukan Etawa as goat breeding centers.

Syaiful explained, North Pamukan is a fertile area,suitable for agriculture and plantations as well as many types of grasses grown for Etawa goat food. "Etawa has the advantage then another goat," he said.

In addition to produce meat, Etawa goat also produce milk. Physically the type of Etawa goats larger than usual goat. Etawa preferred by upper middle. One young goats around the age of 4 months - 8 months and about 70 centimeters high could reach Rp5 million in price.
