An earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale struck southwest of Wanokaka, Sumba Barat Daya District, East Nusa Tenggara, Tuesday morning, Chief of Kupang’s Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Station, Robert Wahyu, stated.

The epicenter of the earthquake was located at sea, some 222 kilometers southwest of Wanokaka, at a depth of 10 kilometers.

No immediate report was received of any casualties or injuries.

A 5.4-magnitude earthquake is considered to be of moderate intensity and capable of causing substantial damage.
