The North Hulu Sungai (HSU) District Government will equip each of its 214 villages, including 5 urban villages, with portable fire extinguisher,
"Regent expected some villages to cooperate by allocating their village fund for the procurement of firefighter truck. If we rely only on portable fire extinguisher we have difficulties to access water in dry season," Head of Sungai Tabukan Sub-district Syahbudinnor said here on Monday (Sept 23).
According to him, several villages in his sub-district already have portable machine to put out fire, but the problem was it hard to access water resource.

He said, if a village has it own fire truck and portable fire extinguisher it can do first act to put out land fire or settlement fire before assistance arrives from city or oher sub-district.
"Hopefully by the changes in village budget the procurement of fire truck will be realized by 2020," he pointed out.

Syahbudin was very grateful land and forest fire in his area was quite a bit because of community participation and awareness. However, the rank of Alabio Police dan Military Command (Koramil) keep on alert to prevent fire. They formed land and forest fire sub-taskforce in the sub-district.
