A total of 19 cooperatives in the city of Banjarmasin continued to to build floating restaurant as one of the culinary tourism facilities on the Martapura River.
According to Chairman of the Indonesian Cooperative Council Banjarmasin Sumarno the construction of floating restaurant will continue to be carried out and is targeted to be operated on September 24, 2019.
"We keep the commitment of floating restaurants to be completed and the operation will be inaugurated in the commemoration of the 493th anniversary of Banjarmasin on September 24," he said here Thursday.
He said, the construction of floating restaurants on a barge cost a lot, which is around Rp1 billion.
"The funds we have are not enough anymore, there is only about half of it," said Sumarno.
According to him, the construction of floating restaurants that took place in the front of the Martapura River embankment (siring) right across the city hall is funded purely by cooperatives.
"The Banjarmasin city government only helps with the place and permits to allow it to operate in front of siring in front of the city hall," he said.
He said, the cooperative had to hold a barge that was quite expensive Rp340 million as a floating restaurant.
"It was valued for scrap only, because if calculated really the price per kilogram can reach Rp700 million, so the price is actually cheap," he said.
