PT Pelindo III targets the distribution of community development assistance funds in 2019 for Rp.4.4 billion for the Kalimantan region which covers 10 ports.

CEO of Pelindo III Region Kalimantan Boy Robyanto on the distribution of the first stage of community development funds at the Trisakti Port in Banjarmasin, Tuesday, said the target of the distribution of funds rose by Rp4 billion compared to 2018.

According to Boy, in the first phase of the assistance for the city of Banjarmasin Rp411 million was handed over to all aid recipients who had submitted proposals and were considered eligible for assistance based on a survey by the community development program team.

The assistance, among others, is given for the development of education, health, small and medium micro businesses, places of worship and others.

"Until now, the realization of the distribution of stage I 2019 community development funds has amounted to more than Rp2 billion," he said.

These funds are channeled to port areas in Banjarmasin, Kotabaru, Sampit, and Kumai.

The aid, added Boy, is one of the efforts of BUMN (state-owned enterprises) through PT Pelindo III to improve community welfare, and to encourage growth in regional development, including the development of human resources education.

"Not only state-owned companies, now private companies are also required to play the role in the development and improvement of people's welfare, especially around the company," he said.

Head of the Banjarmasin Social Agency Iwan Ristianto said the distribution of community development funds greatly helped the Banjarmasin government to improve community welfare.

Based on the data, he said, the poor in Banjarmasin reached 41 thousand families. Of these, 40 percent have received assistance from the government but are partial.

"There are people who only get electricity subsidies, some are BPJS, some are complete, with raskin (subsidized rice-for-the-poor), electricity subsidies, education and others, but there are also those who don't get help at all," he said.

So, he added, Pelindo III's community development program is very beneficial to help the government in providing assistance to residents who are not yet on the list of beneficiaries.
