As part of its expansion plans, low-cost airlines AirAsia Indonesia is set to launch flight services on five new domestic routes, effective from August 1, 2019.
"We have since long sought to expand our domestic route network, so with AirAsia's newest hub in Lombok inaugurated in early May and the addition of our 25th Airbus A320 fleet, we are currently ready to connect more of the country's best destinations to support tourism and economy in the country," Director of AirAsia Indonesia Dendy Kurniawan noted in a written statement here on Monday.
The five domestic return routes to be served by AirAsia Indonesia (QZ flight code) are Jakarta - Lombok, with a frequency of 11 times a week; Bali - Lombok, seven times a week; Yogyakarta Kulon Progo - Lombok, thrice a week; Bali - Labuan Bajo, seven times a week; and Surabaya - Kertajati, thrice a week.
"With the access offered to expand this domestic network, we cannot wait to immediately cater to the aspirations of the community for an additional choice of affordable and quality flight services to explore tourist spots in the archipelago," Kurniawan noted.
To mark the launch of these new routes, AirAsia is offering special promotional prices, including for the Jakarta - Lombok route, starting at Rp635,000; Bali - Lombok, starting at Rp243,000; or Surabaya - Kertajati, starting at Rp626,000.
Reservations can be made through the website airasia.com or the AirAsia application, starting today until June 30, 2019, to fly from August 1 to October 26, 2019. AirAsia domestic flight tickets include free check-in baggage of 155 kilograms.
This launch adds to the list of AirAsia's domestic routes after the airline served round-trip direct flights on the Jakarta - Bali, Jakarta - Yogyakarta, Jakarta - Surabaya, Bali - Yogyakarta, Bali - Surabaya, Bali - Solo, Yogyakarta - Medan Kualanamu, and Bandung - Bali routes.
"A big thank to the Ministry of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia and all stakeholders for their support, so that the launch of these new routes can be realized," Kurniawan stated.
