The efforts of the Tabalong District Government to optimize swamp land into productive agricultural areas have the support of the ranks of the Military District Command (Kodim) of 1008 Tanjung.


The District Military Commander (Dandim) Lt. Col. Arm Edy Susanto said the Army Headquarters through the Save Swamp for the Prosperity of Farmers (Serasi) team have directly observed swamp land in the district.

"We are ready to help and support the optimization of swamp land to become productive agricultural areas," explained Edy when reviewing the swamp land in Pugaan District.

Edy and the team members from the Army Headquarters saw firsthand the condition of the swamp land in Sei Rukam I Village, Pugaan District. The swamp land here is always submerged in water so it cannot be used as agricultural land.

The members of the Serasi team who were present were Col. Inf Iwan Setiawan, Col. Kav. Setiawan Aris Munandar accompanied by representatives of the Tabalong District Agriculture Service, ranks of Sub-district Military Command (Koramil), a village supervisory non-commissioned officer (Babinsa), sub-districts and farmer groups.
 
According to the Chairman of the Serasi Team of Army Headquarters Col. Inf Iwan Setiawan this land optimizing later be integrated with the livestock and plantation sectors.

"In the future this land optimization program can realize Indonesia's ideals as a rice barn," he said.

In Tabalong, swamp land scattered spreads in the South, including in Banua Lawas District, Pugaan Kelua and Muara Harus.

Data from the Tabalong Agriculture Agency shows the area of swamp land in the four sub-districts reached 5,352 hectares.
