The dr.Andi Abdurrahman Noor District Hospital of Tanah Bumbu need blood 300 bags every month in average hoping people to donate their blood to help patients in need.

Director of the hospital dr. Arman through Head of Administration Shaleh said on Saturday currently its blood stock is only 120 bags, while the need is 300 bags in every month.

"The blood group AB is the most difficult to get and often runs out. Indeed, AB blood type is rare and most people rarely have that blood type," Shaleh said.

He said, in the holy month of Ramadan the hospital had run out of blood stock of all types of groups due to the lack of people to donate blood.

The high blood demand in hospitals is triggered by the large number of patients who need blood transfusions, such as in giving birth, accidents, cancer and dialysis.

The average number of hospital patients who need the blood is ten people per day, thus the blood stock is very necessary when it is needed.

To meet blood needs, the hospital continues to coordinate with the Tanah Bumbu PMI to conduct blood donor raising in all agencies, campuses and schools.

The latest data on the amount of blood delivered by PMI to hospitals from the results of raising blood donors was 59 bags of various types of groups.

"We really hope that all citizens can donate their blood at the nearest health service center to help prospective patients who need it," he said.
