Martapura, (Antaranews South Kalimantan) - The fire hit state primary school SDN Jawa 5 in Martapura, Banjar District, South Kalimantan, on Monday night, causing four classrooms burnt.

Banjar police chief Adj Sr Comr (AKBP) Takdir Mattanete through the Martapura police chief Second Inspector (Iptu) Siswadi here on Monday said police are still investigating the cause of the fire.

"We are still probing the cause of the fire and asked for help from the Banjar Police Resort team to conduct initial investigation at the scene and ask for witness testimony," said Siswadi.

He said the temporary allegations match some evidence the team found the fire at 19:00 was caused by short circuit electric.

The team has been trying to find additional evidence on the cause of the fire, he added, but it has not been maximized due to the dark conditions and many ruins.

The fire did not cause casualties, but the material losses were estimated to reach hundreds of millions because of four burning classrooms.

Vice Regent of Banjar Saidi Mansyur said he will try to help the school so that the learning and teaching process is safe, comfortable and quiet.

"Banjar government must provide assistance for the reconstruction of burned classroom," said Saidi Mansyur who participated in monitoring the location of the fire.
