Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan 2/5 (AntaranewsKalsel) - Central Statistics Agency noted that South Kalimantan experienced inflation - a combination of Banjarmasin City and Tanjung - by 0.26 percent in April 2017.
Head of South Kalimantan Central Statistics Agency (BPS) Diah Utami in Banjarbaru said on Tuesday that inflation in Banjarmasin was 0.33 percent while in Tanjung reached 0.65 percent.
"The cumulative inflation rate in Banjarmasin in April 2017 against December 2016 is 1.49 percent, while the cumulative inflation rate in Tanjung is 0.64 percent," she said.
She mentioned, price hike which contributed the highest inflation in Banjarmasin, among others, electricity tariffs, air transport, snakehead fish, rice with side dishes and gold jewelry.
Meanwhile, commodities that experienced price decline with the highest share of deflation included red onion, chicken meat, sugar, watermelon and detergent soap.
In Banjarmasin from seven expenditure groups, four groups experienced an increase in the price index. They were finished food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco by 0.07 percent.
Housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group rose 1.49 percent, clothing 0.85 percent and transportation and financial services group 0.40 percent.
Three groups experienced a decrease in the price index, namely foodstuff category 0.56 percent, the health group 0.12 percent and the education group 0.17 percent.
Meanwhile, in Tanjung commodities that experienced price increases with the highest inflation share were electricity tariffs, chicken meat, car, garlic and tomatoes.
"Commodities experiencing price decline with the highest share of deflation among were cayenne pepper, onion, rice, spinach and kale," said head of South Kalimantan BPS.
The BPS also noted the consumer price index at 82 cities. 53 cities experienced inflation and 29 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation in Pangkal Pinang was 1.02 percent.
