Banjarmasin (South Kalimantan Antaranews) - South Kalimantan provincial government continues to improve roads and ports to boost inter-regional connectivity in supporting economic growth.
Head of Regional Development Planning Board (Bappeda) of South Kalimantan Government, Jasran in Banjarmasin on Friday said several roads and ports were expected to be done in 2013 to 2014 including access roads from Tabukan, Barito Kuala Regency, to the Amuntai Ringroad, Hulu Sungai Utara (HSU) Regency.
Furthermore, the completion of the construction of a sea port Swarangan, Tanah Laut Regency, Port Matasiri, Sebuku, sub-District Marabatuan, Kotabaru Regency.
"Through this development, we wish there was an alternative way to shorten the distance between the regions," he said.
For example, if the citizens of Banua Anam wanted to go to Barito Kuala they previously had to pass through the city of Banjarmasin that require the mileage four hours or more. But with the establishment of the Barito Kuala-Margasari road, the miliage to be no more than two hours.
Development is also planned on the river dock in Banjarmasin, Barito Kuala, HSU, Banjar and Kotabaru. Lodging Kotabaru built wharves.
Provincial government is also seeking changes in the function of forest area lend use for construction of bridges Tanjung Ayun - Tarjun.
